Managing Anxiety – Bilateral Stimulation
Calm your anxious brain with bilateral stimulation. Bilateral stimulation is a technique often used in therapies like EMDR, but you can try it at home to calm anxiety. Here’s how:
- Sit comfortably and begin to alternate tapping your left and right knees or shoulders, one side at a time.
- You can also listen to music or sounds that alternate from one ear to the other (you can find tracks online specifically for this).
- As you continue tapping, focus on your breath or a calming visualization.
This rhythmic tapping helps activate both hemispheres of your brain, reducing the intensity of anxiety and promoting a sense of calm.
