Managing Anxiety – Bilateral Stimulation

Calm your anxious brain with bilateral stimulation. Bilateral stimulation is a technique often used in therapies like EMDR, but you can try it at home to calm anxiety. Here’s how:

  1. Sit comfortably and begin to alternate tapping your left and right knees or shoulders, one side at a time.
  2. You can also listen to music or sounds that alternate from one ear to the other (you can find tracks online specifically for this).
  3. As you continue tapping, focus on your breath or a calming visualization.

This rhythmic tapping helps activate both hemispheres of your brain, reducing the intensity of anxiety and promoting a sense of calm.
