Managing Anxiety – Progressive Muscle Relaxation
Release the tension you didn’t know you were holding. Anxiety often causes muscle tension, but progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) can help ease it. Here’s how it works:
- Start by tensing one muscle group (like your shoulders) for 5-10 seconds.
- Then, release the tension and notice the difference in how your body feels.
- Move through each major muscle group—arms, legs, neck—gradually releasing built-up tension.
Taking the time to focus on your body helps signal your mind that it’s okay to relax. Try PMR at the end of your day to unwind.
