Managing Anxiety – Visualization Anchoring
Create a mental anchor to calm anxiety.
Visualization anchoring is about creating a mental “safe space” that you can access anytime anxiety flares up. Here’s how to try it:
- Sit quietly and close your eyes. Imagine a place where you feel completely safe and at peace—this could be a real or imagined location.
- Visualize every detail: the colors, smells, textures, and sounds of this space.
- When anxiety strikes, close your eyes and mentally “anchor” yourself in this calming place.
Practicing this regularly can help you develop a reliable mental retreat when stress or anxiety takes over.
