Managing Anxiety – Visualization Anchoring

Create a mental anchor to calm anxiety.
Visualization anchoring is about creating a mental “safe space” that you can access anytime anxiety flares up. Here’s how to try it:

  1. Sit quietly and close your eyes. Imagine a place where you feel completely safe and at peace—this could be a real or imagined location.
  2. Visualize every detail: the colors, smells, textures, and sounds of this space.
  3. When anxiety strikes, close your eyes and mentally “anchor” yourself in this calming place.

Practicing this regularly can help you develop a reliable mental retreat when stress or anxiety takes over.

Anxiety is our specialty at Penney Murphy & Associates.
Every member on our Counselling Team is highly trained
and experienced in anxiety work.
We’ll help you to get results for managing your anxiety and finding calm.
